Several boats recently purchased by CONSOL Energy Sales Company from Mon River Towing Company are being renamed following extensive updates and repair work. All will sport the new CONSOL Energy stack logo.

The first vessel renamed was the Howard S. Guttman, which became the Capt. Deane Orr. Orr is vice president of river operations for CONSOL. The christening was conducted on September 20.

Scheduled for the near future are five additional ceremonies, including:

• Leo D. Guttman will be named the Steve Young;

• Sarah S will be named the Wes McDonald;

• Jacob G will be named the Gabriel;

• Lillian G will be named the Champion Coal; and

• Jesse B. Guttman will be named the Mongah.

The names Champion Coal and Mongah were both derived from old steamboats owned by Pittsburgh Coal, a company that later became CONSOL Energy, reported Richard Ehringer, general manager of Mon River Towing Company.
