Blank's Seeks New Fleet On Mon River

Blanks River Services Inc.. Elizabeth, Pa., has applied to the
Pittsburgh Engineer District for a permit to construct a new
mooring facility downstream of its service and repair landing and
upstream of an existing Blank's mooring area. The location is the
right bank of the Monongahela River between Mile 22.3 and Mile
22.5.
The proposed facility would consist of four quad-tie support
structures on 195-foot centers approximately 20 feet from the
right bank. For additional support for the quad-ties. two concrete
deadmen will be constructed at the top of the bank, with two-inch
chain secured to each deadman and each quad-tie.
The proposed fleet width is four barges wide, or 140 feet from the
face of the quad-ties, by three barges long, or 5S5 feet along the
bank.
The Corps will accept comments on the proposal until January 23;
address them to: Pittsburgh Engineer District, Regulatory Branch.
