Over a dozen North Central West Virginia residents including several elected officials joined Grafton mayor Tom Bartlett and his wife Barbara on their 52-foot cruiser, The Enchantress, for a tour of the Upper Monongahela River Saturday, Nov. 5.

Sponsored by Vision 2020’s Monongahela River Recreation and Commerce Committee and the Upper Monongahela River Association, the cruise departed the Star City municipal docks for the 32-mile round-trip tour between the Point Marion and Hildebrand locks. U.S. Department of Natural Resources district fishery biologist Frank Jernejcic provided commentary on the Upper Mon’s fish populations and ongoing issues of river access for boaters and fishermen. MRRCC and UMRA member Wally Venable discussed the river’s history from its pre-lock days through its use as a thoroughfare for passengers and freight. Cruise participants included
