.... The authority also considered the possibility of converting part of an industrial park north of Riverside Marina into a boat launch. Though still far from having a definite plan, authority member Barry Pallay said the site could provide enough space for a three-car-width ramp plus parking for as many as 100 vehicles and boat trailers.

The site the authority is considering cannot be used for development because it contains wetlands and an archaeological site, Pallay said.

Pallay, who is also vice president of the Upper Monongahela River Association, said the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources had been looking for locations to build a boat launch along the Monongahela River in the northern part of the county. If the county's site were used, the launch could host large-scale bass tournaments and provide an extra park for local residents.

Pallay said that if the DNR wanted to pursue the site, the agency would come back to the county with a proposal for a long-term lease on the property.

"We suggested again preliminarily that (the DNR) take a look at this part of the site as an area to put a ramp in and parking to complement the rest of the access," Pallay said. "They are going back now and they are going to take a look and see if it's feasible and practical to put a ramp in and parking in."
