Friends of Deckers Creek (FODC) will celebrate its Outdoor
Learning Park community makeover July 13.
The park is behind Kroger in Sabraton.
The event will showcase the Outdoor Learning Park’s new features,
which were installed during the past year. These new features
include a picnic pavilion, three new educational signs, redesigned
walking path, trees, and butterfly and wildflower gardens.
The park engages users in educational opportunities and passive,
recreational experiences. This is a family-friendly event and is
open to the public.
The day’s schedule:
11 a.m.–noon: Kids’ activities — making bird
houses from milk cartons and painting stones to be placed along
the walking path.
Noon–12:30 p.m.: A ribbon-cutting ceremony.
FODC will recognize community members and local businesses that
have supported efforts to revitalize the Outdoor Learning Park.
12:30–1 p.m.: Tour of the park, highlighting
the features now available to the public.
12:30–2 p.m.: Educational sign activities —
FODC staff, Youth Advisory Board members and volunteers will lead
hands-on activities to complement the new educational signs.
