W.Va. Groups to Receive Funds for Water Quality Checks

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- Ten groups are sharing $40,000 in funds from
the West Virginia Water Research Institute.
The institute is part of the National Research Center for Coal and
Energy at West Virginia University.
Officials say the funding will help support volunteer water
quality monitoring and data collection in streams and tributaries
of the Monongahela River as part of the larger regional monitoring
The institute that was founded in 1967 is funded through the U.S.
Geological Survey. It serves as a statewide vehicle for performing
research related to water issues.
