The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources Police has ruled the September 2014 death of a Morgantown man to be the result of an accidental drowning.

Manuel Nicholas Nevera, 39, of River Road, Morgantown, was found in the Monongahela River at Little Falls at approximately 5 p.m. on September 1. MECCA 911 received a call from a boater who had been alerted to the body in the water as a result of a possible drowning or jet ski incident, said Natural Resources Police Sgt. Gary Johnson.

After receiving the toxicology screen and the coroner's report, DNR Police said Nevera did not undergo any trauma. DNR Police said Nevera was believed to be on a jet ski, which he was fairly inexperienced with using, without a life jacket. Nevera also couldn't swim, according to DNR Police.
