Letter dated 5 June 2000, from Senator Byrd:

Thank you for providing me with a copy of the letter that Mr. Robert L. Gall sent to me regarding his concern about the hours of operation of the Hildebrand and Opekiska Locks on the Monongahela River. I note that he would like to have these locks open at least two shifts per day from May 1 to October 30.

In an effort to be of assistance, I am contacting officials of the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers in Mr. Gall’s behalf to request a report about the feasibility of his suggestion. Any report that I receive in response will be forwarded to you promptly.

With best regards, I am

/s/ Robert C. Byrd
