RE: Georgia Atlantic Intracoastal

Dear Senator Byrd:

We UMRA have been working with you and our WV & PA congressional delegations since 2000 on requesting Congress to add recreational boating to the US Army Corps of Engineers job jar. With the Corps lacking this congressional mandate, we continue to see recreational boating needs for Corps-controlled navigable waterways fought out on a case-by-case basis.

The Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway, which serves both commercial and recreational users, badly needs increased federal funding for a myriad of problems.

The Georgia situation is an example of one such need. For details, go to website for Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway Association ( atlintracoastal.org). On home page, note Georgia situation under Report Waterways Problems. Then, under Menu item News & Information, read resolution re the Georgia situation, which is very bad and needs congressional funds!

We ask that you support the funding needs for the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway, and especially the needs in Georgia. Further, we again ask that Congress add recreational boating support to the Corps mandates!

Please visit UPPERMON.ORG, especially menu item "lock hours."

Sincerely,

Donald C. Strimbeck, Secretary
