RE: Communications Opportunity, Promotion and Enhancement Act of 2006

Dear Senator Byrd:

I ask that you, Senator Rockefeller, Congressman Mollohan, Congressman Rahall, and, Congressman Murtha, oppose the proposed COMMUNICATIONS OPPORTUNITY PROMOTION AND ENHANCEMENT ACT OF 2006. It would hurt us little guys, eg, UPPERMON.ORG, unless we cough up big bucks to ensure fast access to our website.

Details re this proposed legislation are found in many recent news items, including former Secretary of Labor Robert B. Reich's WAR ON THE WEB article at URL:

http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/051306H.shtml , and, at New York Times WHY THE DEMOCRATIC ETHIC OF THE WORLD WIDE WEB MAY BE ABOUT TO END at URL: http://www.nytimes.com/2006/05/28/opinion/28sun3.html

It is essential that Congress ensure that the Internet and the World Wide Web be equally accessible without fees favoring the wealthy to all of us less financially blessed who use these two wonderful communications media!

Sincerely,

Donald C. Strimbeck, Secretary
