The W.Va. Division of Water and Waste Management’s Watershed
Assessment Branch is accepting water quality data that has been
gathered from state streams by individuals, groups or agencies
from July 1, 2008-June 30, 2013.
The data will be used for the 2014 Integrated Water Quality
Monitoring and Assessment Report, compiled every two years as
required by Clean Water Act Sections 303(d) and 305(b).
The deadline to submit data is Oct. 18.
Requirements on how the data is to be prepared for use in the
report can be downloaded from http://www.dep.wv.gov/WWE/
watershed/IR/Pages/303d_305b.aspx .
In addition to a data submission form, there is information
regarding laboratory certification, possible uses of submitted
data and sample documentation.
If the data was subject to a quality assurance/quality control
plan, the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) requests
that the plan be submitted along with the data. An example of a
QA/QC plan can be found at http://www.epa.gov/quality/qs-docs/g5-final.pdf.
Data previously provided to the DEP for use in the 2010 or 2012
Integrated Reports does not have to be resubmitted.
Data may be submitted electronically to stephen.a.young@wv.gov, or
chris.a.daugherty@wv.gov.
Although electronic data submission is encouraged, and preferred
in Microsoft Excel, non-electronic submissions (hard copies) may
be sent to the DEP at the Division of Water and Waste Management,
Attn: Steve Young, 601 57th St. S.E., Charleston, WV 25304.
