Session to Address Water-Quality Issues

Greene County Watershed Alliance, Friends of Dunkard Creek and Wheeling
Creek Watershed Conservancy will host a water-quality monitoring
training session presented by Alliance for Aquatic Resource Monitoring
of Dickenson College at Ryerson State Park June 18.
The event is designed to train and educate individuals about water
testing and procedures related to water resources.
Training can be valuable to better manage the effects associated with
fossil fuel extraction and Marcellus Shale natural gas development.
Participants will learn about basic water-quality standards, stream
sample collection and equipment use and how to recognize a pollution
event.
No experience is necessary. Volunteers will be trained to collect
samples and test for conductivity, total dissolved solids and
temperature using the LaMotte TRACER PockeTester.
The session will be from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Ryerson Station
State Park community/ education building on Bristoria Road.
Refreshments and lunch will be provided.
Training is free but is limited to 30 people; registration is
first-come, first-served until June 14. To register or for more
