A Greene County man has been appointed to the board of directors of the
Upper Monongahela River Association.
Martin Niverth, a research associate with Greene County Department of
Economic Development, was appointed to the board as the Pennsylvania
liaison officer.
The association, based in Morgantown, W.Va., promotes the development
of the area that is encompassed by the drainage basin for the Upper
Monongahela River. It's primary concerns are economic development,
quality of life issues related to the environment and recreational
opportunities.
The group also has sponsored several public meetings in the last year
regarding issues surrounding the Dunkard Creek fish kill that provided
information and brought together state and federal agencies involved in
enforcing water-quality regulations.
